The Warriors Over the Wasatch air show will take place this weekend at Hill Air Force Base. Airplanes of all shapes and sizes will be on display, including performances by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

That’s Lt. Col. Christopher Hammond commenting on a B52 bomber making a low pass during our interview. Lt. Col. Hammond is the commander and leader of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
“It looks like we’re having fun, but we’re definitely working hard," he says. "Ultimately, we’re trying to demonstrate the capabilities and the precision that we have in the United States Air Force.”
The show at Hill Air Force Base this weekend will be only the second since Maj. Alex Turner, also known as Thunderbird #6, crashed after doing a flyover at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. Lt. Col. Hammond says while Maj. Turner won’t be participating in the show, he will be in attendance.
“He will be wishing that he was flying with us," Lt. Col. Hammond says. "We wish that he was flying with us as well. But with patience and due time you know, we look forward to having him rejoin us in the air in a demonstration capacity.”
The gates will be open to the public Saturday morning at 8 a.m. The show includes the U.S. Army “Golden Knights” parachute team and the Breitling Jet Team.
