Romney Trashes Trump At University of Utah

Mar 3, 2016

In a speech at the University of Utah, former Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney called for the party to rally to defeat Donald Trump.

Romney wasted no time making his feelings known about GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. He told a national audience that a Trump presidency would have dire long-term consequences for the country.

“His domestic policies would lead to recession. His foreign policies would make American and the world less safe. He has neither the temperament nor the judgment to be president and his personal qualities would mean that American would cease to be a shinning city on a hill.”

Romney did not endorse any other specific candidate, but he did call on voters to vote for whichever non-Trump Republican candidate was leading in the polls in their state.

And while the majority of the speech was focused on tearing down Trump, who Romney called a phony and a fraud, he also had harsh words for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“A person so untrustworthy and dishonest as Hillary Clinton must not become president. Of Course a Trump nomination enables her victory.”

Meanwhile, Trump responded to Romney’s remarks on Twitter calling him a failed candidate who ran one of the worst presidential campaigns in history.
