The Fourth of July experience for thousands of Utahns will include the rush of the traditional F-16 Fighter Jet Fly-over. The 419th Fighter Wing from Hill Air Force Base will break its own record of the most fly-overs on a patriotic day. Tech Sargent Richard Gonzales, a member of the 419th, says the previous Air Force record for fly-overs was 13.
“We have 19 fly-overs planned for cities all the way from North Ogden down to Vernal and pretty much everywhere in between,” he says.
Gonzales says the show of force is meant more as a show of appreciation from Utah’s Reserve Unit.
“We’re so lucky that here in Utah we have such a military-friendly state and they’re always supporting us. So this is a good way for us to show our appreciation for that show of support," he says.
The 388th Fighter Wing from Hill Field will fly over the expected 50 thousand people at the Stadium of Fire Wednesday night.
