The Salt Lake County Clerk wants you to vote. Registered voters should have received a ballot to complete and return to Sherrie Swensen’s office.
"They’re not coming in at a record pace. In fact, it’s a little bit behind what we had hoped for. They were dropped in the mail on October 16. People started receiving their ballots, probably on the 17th, 18th of October," Swensen said.
As of Wednesday, returns were down roughly 5 percent compared to 2015. Swensen says though there are early in-person polling locations, the easiest way to vote is by mail. She says they made some changes to the ballot so voters could clearly see them in their mailbox.
"We changed the color of the envelope. We made it bright yellow. It’s very obvious," Swensen said. "We didn’t want people to get confused, as we heard last year that it might be coupons or junk mail. It’s very clear that it’s their ballot."
Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by November 6.
