Police complex generating controversy
Salt Lake City, UT – Where should a new Salt Lake City police complex be built? Mayor Ralph Becker's preferred location - on the open space just east side of Library Square downtown - is generating controversy. But he says he'll base his final recommendation on public feedback from the two open houses this Saturday and Monday. A $125 million dollar bond to pay for the project would go before voters in November. The idea could also include mixed retail, housing and a large public plaza on the east side of 300 East. City council member J.T. Martin likes the idea. He's called the green space just east of the library "weird, canyonish and unusable."
