By Beth Hoffman

Salt Lake City, UT – For many families, the kitchen is a place to grab a bite or whip up a quick meal for kids on the run. But for others the kitchen is a special place where family stories are told and cultural traditions are passed on. And for millions of new Americans, the kitchen is also a space for re-creation and re-invention.
In a 5-part series, producer Beth Hoffman joins immigrant women in the Salt Lake as they cook in their homes. In this month's story, Hoffman visits the home of Tahmina Martelly an immigrant from Bangladesh.
