Living Traditions Boasts 30 Years of Arts and Culture

May 15, 2015

The annual Living Traditions Festival is celebrating 30 years of arts and culture in Salt Lake City this weekend.

Salt Lake City’s three-day Living Traditions Festival is all about celebrating the plethora of native and foreign cultures woven into the Salt Lake City community. It’s also about the music, the dancing, the art and of course, all that food. Jesse Schaefer is the performing arts program manager with the Salt Lake City Art’s Council. He’s been with the festival for about 13 years.

“The goal for us is to try to just continue to identify ways that we can support these communities and really help them carry on these traditions,” Schaefer says. “That’s really our place here is to give them a place to present their art forms and their cultures and to really give people an awareness of the community we live in.”

Friday evening through Sunday at 7pm, Washington Square will be buzzing with activity, including an exhibit showcasing images and audio from the festival throughout the past 30 years.
