KUER announces that morning news anchor and award-winning reporter, Dan Bammes, is leaving the station after serving as KUER’s local Morning Edition host for 12 years. Bammes recently accepted the position of Communication Director at the Utah Foundation.
"It’s hard to overstate the very positive impact Dan has had on the station since he arrived here 12 years ago. During that time, it’s been his voice that our listeners heard as they woke up every morning. Dan made our listeners feel at home by delivering local newscasts, weather reports and other relevant information and he did a great job every morning,” said KUER News Director, Terry Gildea.
During Bammes’s tenure at KUER, he received numerous awards for his reporting, including Best Radio Reporter in 2013 from the Utah Headliners Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Bammes also claimed many awards for his beat reporting, including his coverage on the Mt. Pleasant Election in 2013 and Remembering Navy SEAL Jason Workman in 2011. Bammes played a vital role in KUER’s five-part series, Utah’s Olympic Legacy: The Impact of the 2002 Winter Games, which received a 2013 Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for News Documentary.
“I’ve enjoyed my 12 years at KUER. It’s been a wonderful way to interact with the community and especially the listeners who support the station. I will miss the opportunity to connect with them on the air,” said Dan Bammes. “The Utah Foundation also does great work in the community and its research is critical to understanding legislative issues and policy makers. This was an opportunity I felt I could not pass up,” said Bammes.
