Interactive OHV Maps From Utah State Parks

Utah Department of Natural Resources
Interactive maps for off-highway vehicles are available from the Utah State Division of Parks and Recreation

The Utah Division of Parks and Recreation has put a new set of interactive maps online that make it easier to find trails for off-road vehicles across the state.

The maps are on the state parks website at ohv.utah.gov. The collection includes trails from Grouse Creek in Box Elder County to Hog Canyon near Kanab. Users can click on an icon and zoom in from a statewide view to a scale of objects just a few feet across.

Chris Hallermanages the state’s off-highway vehicle program.  He says the maps also make it clear where ATV riders should not go on public land.

“Y’know, we’ve done the hard maps," Haller tells KUER. "We’ve worked with our federal partners and put kiosk structures that have the maps up there.  We go out and we sign trails that say, hey, here’s the designated route.  Now we’ve gone one additional layer in order to help the community understand there’s no reason for you to be riding off-trail.”

The new maps cover about 25-hundred miles of the state’s 80-thousand miles of designated ATV trails.  Haller says they’ll add additional trails to the maps every month or so.  By next year, he also hopes to add new maps to guide larger 4-wheel-drive vehicles.

The maps were developed with the help of the University of Utah’s Department of Geography.
