Salt Lake City, UT – Jean Welch Hill is a 38-year-old Democrat challenging two-term incumbent Mark Shurtleff for the office of Utah Attorney General. Hill grew up in Salt Lake City, her father Dominic Welch was the publisher of the Salt Lake Tribune for 37 years until his retirement. Hill graduated from the University of Utah law school in 1995 and nine years ago, she was hired as a prosecutor and counsel to the State Board of Education.

Hill tells KUER's Jennifer Napier-Pearce that it was at the Board of Education that she had her first run-in with Mark Shurtleff and it was over the school voucher bill last year.
