Dan Nailen previews the upcoming concert by country music legend and "Poet of the Common Man" Merle Haggard, and Betsy Burton reviews the new novel by Laura McBride, "We are Called to Rise" (Simon & Schuster) - a story set in Las Vegas that  explores the realities of war and poverty, saints and sinners, and those so down and out that churches and casinos are hardly a factor.

Betsy Burton is the co-owner of The King’s English Bookshop and Dan Nailen blogs about music and culture at SLCene.com.
