Salt Lake City, UT – Last month, the Vatican sent a letter to Catholic dioceses around the world. In it, they were told not to give parish records to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their genealogical holdings. The letter cited concerns for Catholic Church members' privacy and also with the "detrimental" and "erroneous" LDS practice of baptism for the dead. Wednesday, we'll look at the directive from the Catholic Church and at what is at stake for Mormons practicing their faith.
