Salt Lake City, UT – Last week's news of a Bountiful man's death served as a somber reminder of the overwhelming force that avalanches can unleash. It was just this sort of tragedy that led avalanche expert Jill Fredston to write Snowstruck: In the Grip of Avalanches. Fredston has said she wanted to understand how her friend Todd died on Alaska's Tincan Mountain "when he had everything to live for." Fredston will be in Salt Lake City later this month, and Tuesday on RadioWest she joins us to talk about the repercussions that follow living, working and playing in some of the world's most dangerous places.

  • Jill Fredston will be in Salt Lake City on Friday, January 26th at the REI located at 3285 East 3300 South in Salt Lake City. Her talk and slide show begin at 7:00 p.m. For more information on this free event, call 801-486-2100 or visit REI on-line
