Salt Lake City, Utah – While aspiring writers are often advised to write what they know, Bruce Machart says he believes in writing what you want to know. Machart's debut novel is very different from his own life. It's the story of a broken family on the Texas frontier - a widower who can't forgive his child for the death of his wife. The book is receiving critical praise and is being compared to Cormac McCarthy's stark fiction. Machart is coming to Utah and he joins Doug to talk about "The Wake of Forgiveness."
