Salt Lake City, Utah – The sociologist Peter Berger once said that religion is "something done in private between consenting adults." And that's the way things were in polite American society for much of the late 20th century according to Krista Tippett. Tippett is the host of the public radio program "Speaking of Faith," and Tuesday, she's giving the University of Utah's Sterling M. McMurrin Lecture in Religion and Culture. But first, she'll join us in studio to talk about the role of religion in public life and public conversation today.

On Tuesday, November 10 at 7:00 p.m., Krista Tippett will give the 2009 Sterling M. McMurrin Lecture in Religion and Culture. The event is hosted by the University of Utah's Tanner Humanities Center, and will be at the downtown Salt Lake City Library. Admission is free. For more information, click here or call (801) 581-7989.
