Historic Trolley Square is undergoing a facelift this holiday season. When Utah businessman Khosrow Semnani bought the troubled shopping center last year, he vowed to return it to its former glory. Semnani is optimistic even though many shop spaces remain empty.

Ranchers throughout Utah feared at the beginning of this summer that the drought would be sticking around. But a remarkably wet August has transformed the landscape.

Parts of Northern Utah received almost 4 times as much water as the 30-year average. And, in southern parts of the state, the skies blessed the parched landscape with up to twice as much rain as usual.

Retailers and Shoppers Prepare for Black Friday

Utah consumers and retailers are getting ready for the biggest shopping weekend of the year.  Some stores are opening as early as tomorrow afternoon running through the night into Black Friday.

Some stores like Toys R Us open as early as 5 pm Thursday while Costco and other large retailers aren’t scheduled to open until 9 am on Friday.  Niki Copeland is a Team Leader at the Downtown Target store in Salt Lake City opening at 8 pm Thursday.  She says their preparation began weeks ago and focused on popular sales items.
