Hale Center Theatre’s new facility in Sandy is nearing completion and is set to open later this fall. Officially called the Mountain America Performing Arts Centre, it features two separate stages and innovative stage technology.

This month, Ballet West is hosting its first ever choreography festival. It’s bringing in renowned ballet companies from around the country to share and showcase original choreography.

There are only a handful of performances left for Ballet West’s “The Nutcracker.” As the company begins to wind down this year’s run of the Christmas classic, it’s already preparing for the 2017 production, which includes a complete reboot of sets and costumes. The ballet company is trying to keep things fresh while also preserving the historical nature of its original production.

City and county officials announced plans to build a new $39 million performing arts center in Taylorsville on Monday.  It will be called the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center.

Ballet West will be traveling to Cuba this fall to perform at Havana’s International Ballet Festival. The Salt Lake City company will be one of the first American ballet groups to perform in Cuba since the United States lifted travel and trade restrictions with the island nation this year.

This week the Utah Opera announced a line-up of blockbuster productions for its 2015-2016 season.

Some Salt Lake City arts companies are joining forces Saturday to put on a show that will benefit a homeless shelter.

They call it The Rose Exposed. All six arts groups involved are based at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. Linda Smith is artistic director for the Repertory Dance Theatre, and she’s hoping the show will raise awareness about what goes on at the Rose, and build relationships with people in the community.
