Utah congressional candidate Mia Love held a town hall meeting in Sandy today. Former Congressman and retired Lieutenant Colonel Allan West was also present to endorse the Saratoga Springs Mayor’s campaign.

During the meeting, Colonel West says he traveled to Utah because he believes republican candidates like Mayor Love would restore principles of equal opportunity rather than equal results to the modern American Dream.

At the annual state GOP convention, delegates vote to keep the current nominating system, the party elects a new chair, and Mia Love officially declares she’s ready for a rematch with Congressman Jim Matheson.

Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love officially declared Saturday that she will run again for the congressional seat occupied by Democrat Jim Matheson. Love's announcement came during a speech to several thousand delegates at the Utah Republican Party's annual organizing convention.

“You and I have some unfinished business with Jim Matheson. So combining my confidence in you delegates, with the inspiration you’ve given back to me, we are stronger than ever, and I am certain, we will win,” said Love to applause.

Official results from county canvasses released today show that Jim Matheson maintained his victory over Mia Love in the Utah 4th congressional district race.

Republican Gary Herbert secured his second term in office last night, breezing past Democrat Peter Cooke by more than 36,000 votes.

Just before 11 pm, General Peter Cooke arrived unexpectedly at GOP headquarters to congratulate Governor Gary Herbert on his win. Cooke said he tried calling the governor first but he didn’t pick up. Cooke later returned to the Democratic headquarters to concede, saying Utahns need to continue fighting for education.

Fourth congressional candidates Mia Love and Jim Matheson square off in the first of three debates, Salt Lake County Mayor Candidate Mark Crockett announces his own plan to make the county more efficient, and the Utah Transit Authority decides to keep the Free Fare Zones.

Democratic Congressman Jim Matheson criticized fiscal decisions made by his opponent, Republican fourth congressional candidate Mia Love, Monday, as Mayor of Saratoga Springs.

During a press conference at his campaign headquarters in West Jordan, Matheson criticized Mia Love’s record of increasing taxes while Mayor of Saratoga Springs. He says it shows that her actions don’t match her campaign rhetoric of lowering taxes.

The latest GOP national figure showed up in Utah Thursday night to support Saratoga Springs Mayor and congressional candidate Mia Love. Arizona Senator and former Presidential hopeful John McCain rallied with Love in West Valley City. 

Close to three hundred people gathered in the amphitheater outside the Utah Cultural Celebration Center to see what McCain had to say about the GOP candidate in the state’s fourth congressional district.  The Senator broke the ice with a few jokes about his failed presidential bid in 2008 and then offered his support to Love.
