Wednesday, January 11: Cancelling Brokeback Mountain

Salt Lake City, UT – When the Megaplex at Jordan Commons decided to pull a scheduled screening of Brokeback Mountain last Friday, it made news. Not just in Utah, but around the globe. The film explores the romantic relationship between two Wyoming sheep ranchers. Now the state's gay community is protesting the cancellation with a boycott of Larry H. Miller owned businesses. Doug Fabrizio looks at the controversy and the Golden Globe nominated film that has inspired it. But first, Doug talks to University of Utah Law Professor Wayne McCormack about the Samuel Alito Supreme Court hearings.

"Brokeback Mountain" is playing at the Broadway Theatre in Salt Lake City. Call 801-321-0310.

Please note, KUER will broadcast the wrap-up of today's Supreme Court hearings at 7:00 p.m.
