Utah Tibetans Commemorate Uprising

Salt Lake City, UT – Today, March 10th, is a special day for Tibetans around the world. It's the day commemorating the Tibetan uprising against the Chinese in 1959. Tashi Pelton, a Tibetan woman living in Salt Lake City, experienced first hand the terror of Chinese rule. She spent fifteen years in prison in Tibet for her family's resistance to the Chinese.

Producer Beth Hoffman interviewed Pelton about her imprisonment and how the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama helped her through the ordeal, translated by Khando Chazotsang, also a resident of Salt Lake City and the Dalai Lama's niece.
