Utah Post Offices Offer 7-Day Delivery for the Holidays

Post offices in Utah will begin 7-day delivery services this weekend to kick off the holiday shopping season.

The U.S. Postal Service expects to deliver a record 5.4 million packages in Utah this holiday season. That’s up 20 percent from last year. To keep up with the volume of mail and packages, larger cities in Utah will begin delivering on Sundays.

Margaret Putnam is marketing manager for the U.S. Postal Service in Utah.

“We’re just finding that there are a lot of packages coming through the mail and we want to make sure that our customers get those packages as timely as possible,” she says.

Putnam says customers can also sign up for a real-time delivery notification. “If you are expecting a package, you can sign up at myusps.com and receive an email or text that the package has been delivered within a few minutes of when it was delivered.”

She says she hopes using the website will help keep customers up-to-date on their packages and prevent thefts from porches.

She says those who are mailing packages should make sure they are packed well and have a correct and legible address and ZIP code.
