UPD Investigates Jordan Valley School Principal

Unified Police are investigating complaints involving the principal of a school for special needs students in Midvale. Multiple police reports have been filed against Jordan Valley School Principal Mark Donnelly. But an internal investigation by the Canyons School District has already cleared Donnelly of wrongdoing.

Monday morning, members of the media received an anonymous press release claiming reports alleging inappropriate conduct were filed by parents of children who attend Jordan Valley School as well as by district employees. UPD Spokesman Justin Hoyle couldn’t confirm the allegations because it’s an active investigation.

Ron Faerber says he withdrew his twenty-year-old daughter from Jordan Valley School upon hearing concerns about Donnelly’s behavior. Faerber claims he’s not responsible for the press release or the police report. But Faerber did address the Canyon’s School Board last week about the allegations.

“We want to move forward but there is some very egregious things that have come forward and as parents, we cannot stand for what’s been happening at this school," Faerber says.

Canyons School District Spokesperson Jeff Haney says the district received these allegations over the summer and conducted an internal investigation.

“We have asked people in the community," Haney says. "We’ve asked parents. We’ve asked employees to come forward with any evidence that would support these allegations and no one has done so.”

Haney says Principal Donnelly was placed on administrative leave over the course of the school district investigation. He’s now back on the job.
