Salt Lake City, UT – 9/11 altered the political landscape forever. The question that will remain for Americans is where that change will take us. By a 90 to 9 vote, the US Senate passed Arizona Republican John McCain's ban on torture; President Bush has threatened to veto the defense spending bill which contains the amendment. How far should the government go to protect the welfare of its citizens, and is torture ever an effective and justifiable course of action?
Today's RadioWest included responses from Congress Jim Matheson and Congressman Chris Cannon on the topic of McCain's amendment. Congressman Bishop declined KUER's request to comment on his position related to this issue.
