SyberJet Chooses Utah for Headquarters and Assembly Plant

SyberJet Aircraft

Utah is now home to one of the fastest light business jets in the world. SyberJet Aircraft announced this week that it has selected Cedar City as the location for its headquarters and the new SJ30 assembly plant. SyberJet Aircraft President Chuck Taylor says the new seven-seat SJ30 will be assembled from start to finish in Utah.

“We’ll be starting from the bottom up, and we’ll be manufacturing the detail parts, assembling the airplane, putting all the aircraft systems in the airplane, and flying it off the Cedar City Airport and delivering it to our customers,” Taylor says.

SyberJet’s parent company is MSC Aerospace, which also owns Metalcraft Technologies (MTI) based in Southern Utah. MTI will be a major subcontractor to SyberJet, manufacturing and assembling the majority of the SJ30 airframe structure. Utah, along with local governments, offered a multi-year tax incentive package with a combined value in excess of $43 million.

“The incentives were important,” Taylor says, “We’re pleased the state made the efforts to keep us here in Utah, and we’re looking forward to decades and decades of success, and being one of the top employers in Southern Utah that people want to build careers with.”

Taylor says they expect to create 1200 new jobs in the next 15 years, which will pay higher than the average Iron County wage. He also says SyberJet is partnering with local universities to train their workforce.
