Green River, UT – Students from Utah and Alabama launched rockets high into the sky above southern Utah, and the lessons they learned included how to cope with failure as well as success.
Teams of students from Utah State University and from the University of Alabama-Huntsville launched rockets last Thursday (Jan. 5th, '06) from a desert launch pad near Green River, Utah. The first national university rocket launch competition was inspired by Utah State adjunct professor Paul Mueller, who hopes a new generation of rocket engineers can replace an aging work force and keep the United States at the forefront of the aerospace industry. Sheri Quinn reports it was an educational success, even if everything didn't quite go according to plan.
