Salt Lake City, UT – Utah voters identified taxes and spending as the third-highest issue of concern in a poll conducted earlier this year by the non-partisan Utah Foundation. As part of the Utah Priorities Project, the foundation's researchers have been examining each of these issues, and their report on state government spending is out this morning. It turns out the state of Utah is spending about one hundred two dollars for each one thousand dollars in personal income in the fiscal year that ends June 30th. Utah Foundation president Steve Kroes and researcher Laura Summers spoke to KUER's Dan Bammes about recent trends in state government spending.
