Salt Lake Bees Home Stadium Gets a New Name

The Salt Lake Bees Triple-A baseball team isn’t getting a new stadium, but it will have a different name starting this year.

After several years of being called Spring Mobile Ballpark, the Bees will now play in Smith’s Ballpark. It's a six-year deal between the grocery store chain and the stadium owner, Miller Sports Properties. It includes exclusive sponsorship and advertising rights as well as prominent signage that will appear on the stadium’s façade and scoreboard. Smith’s President Jay Cummins says the deal allows them to align their name with an organization that values family entertainment.

“The experience at Smith’s ballpark is more than just baseball," Cummins says. "The Bees offer an affordable family activity and really an American summer tradition like no other sport. And we’re proud to have our name on one of the most spectacular stadiums in all of professional baseball.”

Greg Miller, the CEO of the Miller Group of Companies, says the deal helps ensure the Bees future in Salt Lake City.

“Well it’s good for us because it adds that much more financial security to the whole equation and we’re always thankful for the roles our sponsors play in making our organization strong,” Miller says.

The stadium was built in 1994 and has seen more than 10 million people walk through its gates. The Bees open their season with an eight game home stand starting April 3.
