Salt Lake City, UT –

The United Nations has designated Wednesday, June 20th as World Refugee Day. The theme this year is "A New Home, A New Life." It highlights the plight of refugees who flee their home countries to escape persecution and threats to their lives. This year, the staff at the University of Utah's YourStory: Record and Remember have recorded the life stories of refugees who have now made their homes in Salt Lake City. In this interview, produced by Mary Gould, Kamal Bewar describes the decision he made to flee his homeland in Iraq and establish a new life in Utah.
