Park City's Gay-Straight Alliance

By Mac Henry

Park City, UT – Two bills now before the Utah House of Representatives could give school districts the ability to ban gay-straight clubs in the state's schools. Senate Bill 97 states that school boards can ban clubs that involve human sexuality or clubs they believe run counter to the emotional, psychological or moral well-being of students and faculty. Another bill, House Bill 393, requires parental consent for all school clubs and has a similar definition of what a morally appropriate school club is. But most people have little idea of what gay-straight alliances actually do. Producer Mac Henry visited a gay-straight alliance meeting at Park City High School to find out.
