Park City Planning Commission to Review Vail Resorts Link Proposal

Park City Mountain Resort

Officials with the Park City Planning Commission are preparing to review a request from Vail Resorts to build a gondola that will link The Canyons and Park City Mountain Resort.

The Colorado based company Vail Resorts is moving ahead with its plan to link two ski resorts it now operates in Park City.  Vail acquired Park City Mountain Resort in the Fall of last year, and the company has operated The Canyons since 2013.

Francisco Astorga sits on the Park City Planning Commission.  He Vail Resorts is requesting to alter the area’s existing master plan.HH

“The master plan development was approved in 1999. So, they’re trying to amend that specific development to have this lift,” says Astorga.

Astorga says that Vail filed the application on December 23. Members of the planning commission will review that application and give the public a chance to respond.

“All of our land use applications require a public hearing which will be scheduled once we know when the planning commission will be able to review it. Anyone that has any comments regarding the application will have the opportunity to come to the meeting or they will have the opportunity to submit written comments that will be shared with the planning commission,” says Astorga.

Astorga says the Planning Commission has not yet set a date to begin reviewing the application. Vail Resorts must also get approval from Summit County to move ahead with its planned link.
