New Anti-Hacker Course Added to University of Utah Continuing Education
Continuing Education at the University of Utah has just added a new cybersecurity certification class to its list of technology education courses. The class is called CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) Certification.
Inita Lyon is the director of Technology Education at the U. She says hacking is big business that is impacting Utah businesses every day.
“We only see the big stories. We don’t see the story about how small businesses get hacked," says Lyon. She says, "Those businesses are just as vulnerable and those folks have less of an opportunity to recover.”
Lyon says the common notion that hackers work in the basements of their parents’ homes is all wrong. She says it’s an international, multi-billion dollar business of high profits and low risk of being caught.
“And so those who are getting involved with it are going after everybody,” says Lyon.
