Utah Governor Gary Herbert introduces Judge Deno Himonas as his selection for the Utah Supreme Court

Governor Gary Herbert has appointed Judge Constandinos Himonas to the Utah Supreme Court. If confirmed by the Senate, Judge Himonas will take the place of Utah Supreme Court Justice Ronald Nehring who is retiring on February 1st.

Governor Gary Herbert says he choose Himonas because of his integrity.

“It was interesting to have the comments of the people that have worked with him, along side him, and those who have been in his court," Herbert says. "And they talk about, regardless of the outcome they know that they’ve had a fair process, one that’s been laced with integrity.”

Judge Himonas says he’s humbled by the opportunity and will serve as he has previously, always remembering that the cases that he’s hearing are the most important thing going on in those people’s lives.

“And consequently, I have tried to give those cases the full measure of my abilities," Himonas says. "And if I’m confirmed, I commit to this degree of dedication. It’s certainly one the people of this great state deserve.”

Judge Himonas has served as a trial judge in Utah’s 3rd District Court for the past ten years. He has presided over more than 100 jury trials and countless bench proceedings.
