First Listen: Phish, 'Fuego'

Peter Yang

As reigning kings of the jam band scene, Phish have always been a bit divisive—some fans fall in love with their free-wheeling improvisation and extended live sets, while others find the sound a bit too unmoored, the constant noodling perhaps a bit self-indulgent.  With their most recent album, Fuego, however, NPR's Michael Katzif writes that Phish have hit upon "[their] finest work in more than a decade", and one with the potential to score some new converts to the Phish-head side.  You can stream Fuegohere, courtesy of NPR's First Listen series.
