Federal Stimulus May Blunt Budget Cuts, Lawmakers Kill Two Gay Rights Bills

Salt Lake City, UT – It was a bad day on Utah's Capitol Hill yesterday for gay rights advocates. Two more bills extending civil rights and protection against discrimination were stamped out. Lawmakers also took action on matters affecting victims of domestic violence, gun supporters and nuclear power . But first - legislators learned that tax revenues are $171 million dollars shorter than projected this year, and that the anticipated shortfall is even deeper for next year's budget - $320 million dollars more.
