Explaining Canada's Hockey Culture

By Jenny Brundin

Salt Lake City, UT – Many Americans are getting excited about soccer's upcoming World Cup. But there's another championship series going on right now -- the Stanley Cup. Game 2 is tonight, and at least one Utahn will be tuning in via the Internet: KUER's Jenny Brundin. Her hometown team -- the Edmonton Oilers -- is battling the Carolina Hurricanes. In Canada, Jenny says, hockey isn't just a sport. It's a religion -- a common language -- the glue uniting a fractured country spanning 35-hundred miles. Here, Jenny Brundin explains why hockey matters so much to Canadians.
