Early voting locations around the state opened their doors Tuesday allowing Utah voters to get a head start on the mid-term elections.
In the morning, a slow trickle of people shuffle in to cast their ballot at the Salt Lake County building. Only about 10 people had shown up in the first few hours of being open. Earl and Colleen Hardwick were two of them.
“It’s just really convenient and nice to get up in the morning to go vote and have breakfast,” Earl says.
Colleen says the fact that very few people were there is one of the main reasons why they appreciate early voting.
“So that we don’t have to stand in a long line," she says. "It’s easy to find parking. It’s more convenient. It’s just better all the way around.”
Early voting will be open through October 31 and any registered voter can participate. Early voting locations can be found in most Utah counties, but each location is open for different hours. Specific information can be found at vote.utah.gov.
