Salt Lake City, UT – As part of the nationwide Cover the Uninsured Week, Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. sponsored a summit on health coverage for the uninsured at the University of Utah's Huntsman Cancer Institute. The speakers included Dr. Joseph Jarvis, president of the Utah Health Alliance and Robert Moffitt, director of the Center for Health Care Studies at the Heritage Foundation. In the first conversation, Dr. Jarvis presents his vision for a "Utah Health Cooperative," a single-payer system that would cover everyone in the state. In the second, Moffitt responds to Dr. Jarvis and makes his own argument for a competitive, market-based health care system. Kent Mitchie, the commissioner of the Utah Department of Insurance, concludes the second conversation.
