Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders drew thousands of supporters to West High School Monday for his second campaign stop in Utah. He’s trying to pick up as many delegates as possible during Utah Caucuses Tuesday night.
Sanders told the crowd Utah is a conservative state but it is also a state of decent and caring people. He took aim at some of the other candidates who stopped in Utah this past week.
“It is a state that does not like people who lie all of the time. It is a state that does not like candidates to insult other people or make fun of other people.”
Sanders populist message has won over at least one Utah voter since his visit last week at This is The Place Heritage Park on Friday. Kristen Carling stood outside the packed auditorium at West High School Monday trying to get in.
“So for a while I was trying to decide between Bernie and Hillary. After seeing his last speech a couple of days ago at the rally, I decided I was going to get behind him and I wanted to see him. But we were too late to get in.”
Statewide polls show Sanders and Clinton are virtually tied. Democratic caucuses begin at 6 p.m on Tuesday. Thirty-seven delegates will be divided between the two candidates.
