Emily's List President Ellen Malcolm
Emily's List President Ellen Malcolm

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – "It's not about how many women are running." explains Ellen Malcolm, president of Emily's List, "It's about how many women are running where they have real opportunities to win." In 1985, Malcolm created Emily's List with the goal of raising money to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. In those 20 years, the organization has helped elect 11 women senators, 61 congresswomen and eight governors. As we enter the 2006 election season, Doug talks to Malcolm, and former US Congresswoman Karen Shepherd about the role women play in national and state politics.
