By Jennifer Napier-Pearce

Salt Lake City, Utah – From forceps to anesthetics to modern-day fertility, the history of childbirth has been filled with mystery and misunderstanding. In her new book, Dr. Randi Hutter Epstein charts the history of the way we get babies out of their mothers and how this effort has changed over time, following the social mores of the day. Epstein joined guest host Jennifer Napier-Pearce to talk about how these evolving ideas about pregnancy and birth shed light on a society. (Rebroadcast)
