8/2/06: Author Calvin Trillin

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – Humorist, columnist and author Calvin Trillin wrote that the food in exclusive American clubs "is so tasteless because the members associate spices and garlic with just the sort of people they're trying to keep out." Trillin's observations on America have produced more than 30 years of writing for The New Yorker, Time and The Nation, as well as a prolific number of books. He will be in Salt Lake City this weekend, and joins us Wednesday on RadioWest for a conversation about food, politics, family and passions.

  • Calvin Trillin will speak at the Salt Lake City Public Library on Saturday, August 5th at 7:30 p.m. Free tickets are still available at Chapman and Day-Riverside branches. Tickets to the pre-lecture reception are available through The Library Store, 524-8238. More information is available on-line.
