2/12/07: Mitt Romney's 2008 Bid for President

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – It's the great American promise: any of us - rich or poor - can grow up to be president. And, it doesn't hurt if you're Episcopalian or Presbyterian either. Those two denominations account for half of the US Presidents. But don't try to predict too much by Mitt Romney's religion. According to the essayist Walter Kirn, Romney's Mormonism is ultimately a bigger deal to Latter-day Saints than to other Americans. When he makes his 2008 bid official on Tuesday, Romney will be more interested in talking about economic revival than in his faith. Monday we'll look at Mitt Romney's candidacy, his political evolution and how he stacks up to the other Republican candidates.
