By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – The sights and sounds of daily ranch life in Montana inspire singer songwriter Stephanie Davis -- from the trills of sandhill cranes in the spring and herding cows to new grass in the summer, to the choir of coyotes in the dead of winter. Davis is a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion," and she joined us last March -- guitar in hand -- to talk about her music, and the music of the American West. (Rebroadcast)

Stephanie Davis has participated in two projects with the Western Folklife Center. Why the Cowboy Sings aired on KUED Channel 7 in 2002. She was also part of the Center's Sagebrush to Steppe: Cowboys in Mongolia, a cultural exchange between Mongolian herdsmen and American cowboys.
