Salt Lake City, UT – The tenth-century Muslim philosopher Abu Hayyan at-Tawhidi said that handwriting is jewelry fashioned from the pure gold of the intellect. Islamic art is perhaps best known for its calligraphy - but there's also extensive ornamentation, color and even abstract figures that reflect a diversity in Islamic civilization. Wednesday, we're joined by art historian Sabiha al-Khemir for a look at Islamic art and the window it opens to the culture that created it.
- Wednesday night at 7:00, al-Khemir will be at Sam Weller's Zion Bookstore to read from her new novel, Blue Manuscript. For more information, call 801-328-2586 or click here
