Salt Lake City, UT – When Joe McQueen came to Ogden for a gig in 1945, the town was an important railroad stop between the coasts. And when the legendary saxophonist decided to make Ogden his home, he helped take the jazz scene from dance bands and civic events to a style and quality that attracted the likes of Charlie Parker, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie and more. After some 60 years, McQueen is still blowing his horn in Northern Utah. Monday he's in studio - along with bassist and Jazz historian Lars Yorgason - to talk about his music and the life it made for him.
