Salt Lake City, UT – At Utah's state capitol yesterday, lawmakers wrangled over criminal justice, health care and education issues that could have far-reaching effects on Utah's youth. KUER's Tasha Cook has this report.
Salt Lake City, UT – Health care advocates were back on Utah's Capitol Hill yesterday, pushing for what's called a "preferred drug list" that doctors could prescribe from for Medicaid patients. That's the state's health insurance program for the poor. Advocates say it can save the state millions of dollars a year. But they're up against a powerful pharmaceutical lobby. Also introduced yesterday were a handful of bills that get tough on child sex offenders. KUER's Jenny Brundin reports.

Washington, DC – In the first hours of the new Congress the House passed new rules aimed at limiting spending. They were pushed hard by moderate Democrats, like Utah's Jim Matheson, known as Blue Dogs. Neil Simon reports from Washington.
