UDOT’s John Gleason says they’re surprised no one noticed thieves at work right along I-15 in North Salt Lake last week.</p><p>“They basically stripped out 35-thousand feet of copper wiring, you know that stretches, says Gleason, it spans about the length of a mile, eleven separate tall light poles.”</p><p>Gleason says replacing the cables will cost between 50 and 60 thousand dollars so taxpayers are the biggest victims in these thefts.</p> Tue, 02 Apr 2013 22:10:00 +0000 Bob Nelson 27244 at http://kuer.org UDOT Gets Hit by Largest Single Copper Cable Heist New Salt Lake County Mayor Reorganizes Public Works Department http://kuer.org/post/new-salt-lake-county-mayor-reorganizes-public-works-department <p>Salt Lake County Mayor-Elect Ben McAdams is already implementing changes to the government structure. Thursday he announced he will reorganize the Department of Public Works and appoint two people to oversee it. It’s now called the Department of Public Works and Regional Development. McAdams has named Taylorsville Mayor Russ Wall as the department’s director and Patrick Leary will fill a new position to called Township Executive.
