On August 18, 2017 at Phillips Gallery in Salt Lake City, UT, the Salt Lake Violin Makers' Collective will hold their first instrument showcase. Local makers Melissa Collins, Jordan Hess, Alfred Rordame, IV, Paul Spencer and R. Alex Wilson will be showing their instruments and bowmaker Robert Dow will be on hand with a selection of bows. Music will be performed throughout the evening (showcasing the makers' instruments) by Bronwen Beecher and a Patio Music String Quartet featuring Michele Medina, Michael Nebeker, Katherine Deneris and Ryan Stocks. The instruments (violins, violas and cellos) can be viewed as art but people are also encourage to play the instruments. All makers will be on site throughout the evening to answer any questions and instruments are available for purchase. The event will take place from 6-9pm and will coincide with Gallery Stroll and the Phillips Gallery Summer Group Show Reception. This is a unique chance for the public to see, hear and play high quality handmade instruments and to meet the makers. Phillips Gallery is located at 444 East 200 South in Salt Lake City.
